Activities

  • We had a special session at the 2013 INFORMS Annual Meeting in Minneapolis to present the research outcomes, co-chaired by Drs. Son and Kwon. INFORM 2013 Hazmat Session
  • A prototype simulation system developed for Hazmat transportation has been demonstrated to the high school students (four sessions) via a summer engineering academy (SEA;http://dev.engr.arizona.edu/future/sea) at The University of Arizona in 2012 as well as 2013. It is noted that Dr. Son has been participating in the SEA activities for the SEA in the past 12 years.  Below is a snapshot, where Sojung Kim (PhD student of Dr. Son) is demonstrating live simulation demos in the Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Simulation Lab as part of the SEA program in 2013.

  •  Dr. Kwon provided a lecture on hazmat transportation to local high school students from Buffalo, NY on July 10, 2013. The lecture was part of 2013 UB’s National Summer Transportation Institute.UB Transportation Summer Camp 2013

  • We attended the INFORMS Annual Meeting 2012 and gave presentations. Our group had a dinner together in a nice pizza place.2012-10-14 23.08.08 2
  • In Fall 2011, a UB undergraduate student, Howard Chen, completed an Honor Project, titled “Research on the Laws and Regulations regarding Hazardous Materials Transportation” under the guidance of Dr. Changhyun Kwon.
